Synthetic Molecule Design and Development has an exciting opportunity for an analytical chemist to join our development group. You will be part of a diverse team of analytical chemists, organic chemists, pharmaceutical scientists, and engineers delivering product and process understanding across a broad range of platforms (e.g. small molecule, peptides, and oligonucleotides). Top candidates for this position will be able to:

  • Develop analytical methods to support progression of the synthetic molecule portfolio.

  • Evaluate and/or implement new analytical technologies/methods to advance Lilly's current analytical capabilities for bioproduct testing with a focus on state-of-the-art separation sciences capabilities.

  • Generate key data and information applying HPLC, UHPLC, GC, and LCMS in collaboration with engineering, chemistry and pharmaceutical scientists.

The ideal candidate will have breadth in multiple analytical techniques. Must have strong technical problem-solving ability, learning agility, and be able to work with cross-functional teams.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Engage with scientists across Eli Lilly’s Development and Manufacturing organizations to develop robust analytical methods

  • Identify and exploit new scientific concepts, strong problem-solving skills, and be self-motivated to contribute across multiple projects

  • Strong written and verbal communication to speak to both technical and business-related implications of your work.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related field.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Experience with chromatographic separations, spectroscopic methods and methods for the analysis of synthetic molecules.

  • Demonstration of scientific and people leadership skills.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • The ability to work productively in an interdisciplinary team environment

  • Ability to balance multiple activities, prioritize and handle ambiguity
