Prevail is based in the Alexandria Centre for life Sciences on the East Side of Manhattan in New York city.

Position Summary

The Senior Research Scientist, In Vivo Pharmacology Gene Therapy, will lead an in vivo pharmacology lab, located in Indianapolis, to support the discovery and optimization of novel therapeutic candidates for Gene Therapy. As part of the Prevail discovery team, s/he will be a key driver to advance novel targets for neurodegenerative disorders, as well as exploring AAV biodistribution and clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Establish an in vivo pharmacology lab to design and conduct in vivo pharmacology studies to characterize activity of gene therapy vectors in mouse models
  • Lead biologist for gene therapy programs in CNS disorders. Collaborate with the in vitro team of Prevail in NY for vector generation, optimization and characterization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners (Preclinical, toxicology, ADME, PK/PD modelling, regulatory, clinical and manufacturing team) to ensure the translation from discovery to development
  • Investigate the in vivo distribution and clearance of AAV
  • Drive the inception and execution of novel target projects

Basic Qualifications

  • MS/PhD in biology or related disciplines. MS with 10 years or PhD with 3-5 years of experience in Gene therapy or Neuroscience is required.

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Passion, knowledge and experience in neuroscience or rare disease research.
  • Prior experience in macromolecule distribution and metabolism
  • Strong analytic thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to articulate issues, and extract and synthesize complex issues into key focus.
  • Creative and curious. Can quickly adapt in a fast-paced working environment
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills. Proven record to collaborate and network across a wide variety of functions and work effectively with internal and external partners.
